  1. Thanks Bruce Wightman

Funny you should ask about a stylus cos I just purchased one two days ago… the Adonit Jot Mini, it took a little to get used to the weird tip but it definitely helps with accuracy since I have big fingers that get in the way when placing points of shapes.

When Pujie Wear suggested to someone else that a tablet might help, I looked into buying a Samsung tablet but the only one with a Stylus is 10in which is too big… I even tried 3 Android emulators on my Surface Pro 4 and whilst some resolutions made for a bigger surface to work on, the Pujie Black app isn’t optimized for emulators on Win10 (obviously) so there are numerous issues… the tools are too small, zooming in & out either doesn’t work or jumps to extremes, scrolling without a scrollbar through shapes in the tiny lower window is extremely frustrating with unpredictable/undesirable results… In some resolutions the undo button was greyed out which made the app unusable. It’s also difficult using actions like press-hold on a point… It took a stupid amount of attempts each time and drove me insane… the surface pen didn’t help in the slightest because it doesn’t translate the same as finger movements and actions, press-hold doesn’t even exist as an action for the pen so I’d be back to tapping around aimlessly with my fat fingers. Then there was the issue of sharing designs between emulators and my phone. It was all very frustrating so in the end I decided to abandon buying a tablet and gave up on getting an emulator to work properly.

I’m just glad I have a slightly bigger phone (Pixel XL), it helps… also, the new stylus helped reduce the amount of repositioning I normally have to do.

Now, if you find a better solution, please share. Sorry for the long post.

  2. Okay, so I just started looking into doing a few custom watch faces of my own, and was shocked to discover that Pujie Black still doesn’t allow the importing of images for backgrounds, meaning you’re doing all this basically freehand! I’m so sorry I requested the custom Minnie Mouse — I had no idea what I was asking of you, Isreal Mathew! As a result of this discovery, I started looking more closely at your work and wow…I’m a 1000x more impressed than I was before, I was REALLY impressed back then! Incredible, ingenious work! You’ve definitely inspired me. I love doing this kind of work, and the fact that the editor is so basic makes it even more fun.

You mentioned that the Samsung tablet (I have the Galaxy Note 10.1 2014 Edition, which does have a great stylus) is too big? Will Pujie Black not run on it?

  3. lol Mickey needed Minnie though so it was worth the effort! ? Thanks for the kind words Christopher Pilot. I’m glad you’re gonna have some fun with it too… It certainly is fun… and challenging at times… Like when you draw an arm or hand backwards and have to do it again.

And no, I reckon it’ll work well for you… it’s just that I was looking for something in between the size of my Pixel and my Surface… like 7 or 8 inch… I couldn’t justify another larger gadget for the sole purpose of creating watch faces! That’s ridiculous.

In any case, I look forward to seeing your designs… Let us know how the tablet helps in the creation process.

  4. Impressive work Isreal Matthew. I’ve recently started designing faces and are somewhat hooked. Love what you’ve done.
