Keep in mind that images with large amounts of alpha channel use are still rendering the whole image size. Consider a couple simple tools to adjust your images before you import them:

A. QuickPic

This is the gallery app I’ve used for many years… It just works and is fast… In this context, I especially like the simple cropping capability it provides.

B. Background Eraser

This is a great tool for cropping and additionally erasing irrelevant parts of an image.

C. Image Combiner

This tool is great if you want to quickly join images together, whether horizontally or vertically. I use it so much that I paid for Pro to remove the ads.

D. PicsArt

This a powerful editor. It has a nice toolset for colour adjustment via the built-in effects, including selective colour replacement. You can merge and layer images together and apply visual distortions. It can also make collages. It’s a great tool but I can’t justify $60/yr thus I have to contend with ads but you can overlook that considering the broad functionality.

Note: Custom angle rotation is achieved by using the Add Photo action rather than rotating the image itself.
