Drawing arcs seems to impact performance more than standard shapes. By all means, use an arc but if the arc is simply providing a single curved line (or a full circle), consider replacing it with a line… maybe design using an arc first then use that arc as a guide to make a replacement shape or line… it will be worth the inconvenience of extra design time.
